Latex Safe Dentistry

Our office is a haven for those with sensitivity to Latex.

"Just inhaling the air of the entrance to another dental office causes me serious allergic reactions including difficulty breathing, asthma and the need for medication for a few weeks following my dental visit".

I can personally relate, since my young daughter herself developed severe latex allergies. I became aware that many people with latex sensitivity have great difficulty when visiting the dentist, and as a result are denying themselves dental care altogether... until their teeth deteriorate to the point that they need dental emergency care. I became convinced that we needed to find a way to deliver excellence in dental care to those and other patients

After studying much about Latex Allergy and consulting with Dr. Gordon Sussman, a guru of Latex Allergy, we searched all the latex sources in the dental office and found substitutes. We do not possess in our facility any latex gloves or any other materials which are known to have latex in them.  Unfortunately, some manufacturers would not guarantee that their products were never handled with latex gloves.

The result is that we now have treated many patients who are sensitive to latex, who were either unable to or uncomfortable with receiving dental care elsewhere. All such patients who come to our office always receive full follow-up care phone calls and have not had any symptoms or any difficulties whatsoever due to their latex allergy...including my own latex allergic daughter.

Our patients have even travelled from places as far as Guelph to see us after many years of avoiding the dental office. A latex allergic mother now brings her children to our office, because elsewhere she could only discuss treatment with their dentist while waiting in her car. She wasn't even able to enter the reception room because of the presence of latex in the air.
